With over 27 years Building Industry experience, I felt it was time to have a recruitment specialist within the industry who came from the industry it serves.
During my years I dealt with many different agencies. The one thing I found was, none of the recuiters I dealt with came from the industry.
"The issue I had was finding someone from an agency who understands my needs as a Client and as a Candidate.

Q. How can someone who does not understand the industry meet my needs?
A. Simple, they cannot.

I have come from a trade background in Scotland. I decided to move into sales within the building industry and worked on some pretty spectacular projects.

Using my previous experience on the tools and in industry related sales roles, dealing with Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Developers, Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, Manufacturers, OS&H, Government bodies, Manufacturers and Merchants through my years and involved in technical roles on projects like a Nuclear Submarine base in West Coast of Scotland, Floating Jetties for Submarine repairs, Multi-Storey Construction, Major Roading and Rail projects, Tunnels and Bridges around the UK and New Zealand.

Jenny is from South Africa, bringing with her 15 Years of recruitment experience, both temporary and permanent placement success covering many fields such as Logistics, Manufacturing, Mining, Sawmills and Engineering.

Jenny joined Building Recruitment Ltd in May 2011 and is currently Recruitment Account Manager, specialising in all aspects of Residential Building and Construction, Kitchen and Bathroom Design and Customer Service, Admin and Sales positions.

Jenny’s client base consists of Group Builders, Building Merchants and key suppliers to the industry and has placed staff from Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland.

John has been living just North of Christchurch for seven years since moving up from Dunedin on business. He has joined Building Recruitment as our Christchurch Recruitment Manager.
John is very passionate about the city, its rebuild and the growth of its local businesses.

He brings with him a wide experience across the domestic and commercial building industry, from working in the trade and at senior management level. John has a long history of Management in sales and business development, including with property development companies, franchising and retail property development.

His previous experience as a National Sales and Leasing Manager for a leading franchise chain has allowed him to perfect his interview skills in understanding the needs of clients and matching those needs to the experience of candidates, ensuring the right people are matched with the right opportunities.
The role involved working with clients, developers and property owners, to guide projects to the successful opening of new franchise stores.

As the Retail Leasing Manager of an NZX listed company over a five year period, John initiated and oversaw the successful redevelopment of substantial shopping centres across New Zealand. These projects required in depth knowledge of the local area as well as the talent within the local building industry required to complete the job. He has worked extensively with people from all facets of business, including architects, project managers, engineers, quantity surveyors, as well as company executives in property development, retail, retail-development and manufacturing.

John's knowledge and experience within the building and construction industry, coupled with his sales experience and interpersonal skills, has allowed him to become a leading Specialist Recruiter in the placement of candidates for middle and senior management roles.
